House Trailers

TRT have developed an Electronic Steering System (ESS) that is now available with their Hydraulic House trailer design.

This new system will allow for all axles to steer in conjunction with the truck steering and by remote control for operator assist and crab steering. The steer axle is able to be steered to 35° either side of centre.

All axles will be controlled through an electronic sensed steering system. Each axle will be controlled individually by a hydraulic ram that will ratio the correct steering angle in unison with all the trailers axles. The various house trailer lengths (which can change by every pocket opening) will be programmed into the system to optimize steering angles.

In the electronic steering mode, the steering is controlled via the Prime Mover's 5^th wheel with special wedge lock fitted. This auto-steering mode can also be manually overridden to allow the operator to power steer the trailer without using the signal.

The required configuration can be set up by the operator from the controller in the truck’s cab with the selection of a single button, simple! Once selected the steering angle of all wheels will automatically change to the pre-programmed angles for that configuration no matter what the length the trailer is open or closed the trailer to.
